Senior Media Planner/Buyer

SCS is seeking a Senior Media Planner/Buyer with a deep understanding of the media landscape. Someone who combines creative thinking and strong project management – while maintaining a keen focus on quality – to heighten consumer engagement across all target markets. This is an opportunity to be a media thought leader at SCS. The position is responsible for providing strategic planning support across all media channels while exhibiting a firm understanding of branding principles and measurable tactics. The Senior Media Planner/Buyer exhibits a proven ability to plan, execute and analyze offline campaigns across print, television, radio, out of home, and experiential media. The role reports to the Media Director and the SVP, Media and is very much empowered to have a serious impact on SCS’s approach to offline media with our incredible global brands.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute multi-channel (TV, Radio, Print, OOH, Experiential) media campaigns, emphasizing brand-building objectives for all accounts
  • Ability to think strategically in order to develop media plans in support of client business objectives
  • Collaborate with Display, Video, Search, Social, Mobile planners/buyers to ensure true cross platform integration
  • Work closely with Media Partners, Account Team, Creative Team including Digital and Search buyers and Brands to ensure flawless executions
  • Lead campaign planning and management efforts designed to maximize client budgets
  • Responsible for developing RFPs and negotiating rates with media vendors
  • Develop and present media plans and competitive research results in client and new business presentations
  • Manage budgeting and forecasting, campaign delivery and reporting
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external vendors and internal agency counterparts
  • Inform internal team members, as well as clients, about opportunities, challenges and marketplace developments
  • Be/become an expert user for various media technology platforms (Strata, MRI, AdIntel)
  • Provide strategic and tactical guidance regarding media best practices as a media expert for clients, team and agency
  • Evaluate workflow processes with an eye for process improvement and efficiency
  • Generate and/or supervise the production of client reports, including detailed monthly analytics

Skills:

  • Expert understanding of all traditional media channels
  • Expert knowledge of planning and buying offline and cross-media packages, with solid negotiation skills
  • Proficient in Media Tools, Nielsen, Syndicated Research tools. Able to not only pull the data, but analyze and provide valuable insights.
  • Understanding of media analytics and advertising ROI principles
  • Knowledge of digital media in collaboration with Digital buyers/planners
  • Ability to see things from all points of view, not just the Media Buying point of view. This includes billing, finance, account management, creative, tech, and executive management.
  • Ability to develop creative solutions to problems in relation to tactical and strategic budgeting
  • Understand brands, business objectives, and how to apply research, best practices, tech/platform knowledge, to create cross channel, innovative strategies to drive outstanding results

Experience:

  • 3-5+ years offline media planning and buying experience
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail
  • Familiarity with media platforms, vendors and processes
  • Must have experience with assembling completely integrated direct response and branding campaigns, including negotiation, implementation and evaluation
  • Ability to organize and track client campaigns and projects
  • Initiative to analyze resource needs and assist teams to meet milestones
  • Understanding of media analytics and advertising ROI principles
